Regulation 2020

1. Organization

The City Council of Alquezar and the AADD Guara Spirit are the official organizers of this event.

2. The race.

It is a race with several routes that travel through the Sierra de Guara and that run along mountain roads, trails and tracks.


Ultra-Trail® Guara Somontano is a mountain race of about 108 km approximately and with a positive altitude of 5800 meters accumulated. The maximum time to complete the test is 26 hours, enough time to finish the tour walking at the pace of walking with brief stops.
Long Trail Guara Somontano. With a distance of 52 km and with 3000 meters of positive altitude, it shares almost the entire route with the Ultra.
Trail Guara Somontano is a reduced version of the long test. It has about 38 km. and about 2000 meters of positive height difference.
Alquézar Trail 14 km and 700 m. +

5. Refreshments.

During the test, the organization will provide liquid water-based refreshment and isotonic drink and in some of them there will also be solid food.

The content of each refreshment will be detailed a few days before the test.

It is forbidden to be accompanied by other people who are not registered participants in the event.

Participants of the Ultra Trail, will have the possibility of carrying a «bag of life» with spare clothes and extra food to the CP located in the town of Rodellar race. This bag will be deposited at the exit at a previously designated point and will be transported by the organization. Equally the bags will be returned to Alquézar once the CP of Rodellar is closed.

It is allowed to receive external supplies at the checkpoints of Alquézar, Rodellar, Las Bellostas and Radiquero. In all these cases, the help will be made outside the space of the control point in an area designated for that purpose. Receiving help outside of these checkpoints is grounds for penalty.

Long Trail: External provisioning is allowed in: Alquézar, Mesón de Sevil and Radiquero

Trail: External avituallameinto is allowed in: Alquézar and Radiquero.

Alquézar Trail: External refreshment is not allowed

** People who make external supplies can not under any circumstances enter the checkpoints and take anything from the supplies that are reserved exclusively for runners and can only be used by them.

Residues: The conservation of the environment is one of our main concerns. For this reason, it is mandatory to carry all the gels, sticks or elements that can be subject to residue marked with the number of the bib number, in the random material controls it will be checked that it is properly marked. Likewise, during the cleaning and demarcation, the found residues will be checked and measures may be taken a posteriori.

6. Map and Road-Book.

On the web, all the information regarding the course of the race will be published and the track will be made available to the riders with the course of the races. The organization advises that the runners print the documentation to take it during the race to facilitate the tracking of the route. There are many kilometers and the organization can not foresee actions of boycott of some unscrupulous. The entire route runs along trails and tracks clearly visible and marked by the organization.

It is also recommended to take the track of the test downloaded in some device (clock, GPS, mobile phone … ..)

7. Step controls (CP).

Participants must pass through the PCs that will be clearly visible. At each CP there will be personnel of the organization and an electronic verification system with which to check the passage of the runners. The participants are responsible for ensuring that they pass through each CP. A broom team of the organization will complete the course closing the race. The indications of the organization and security personnel must be followed at all times.

Failure to heed the indications of these will lead to serious penalties and may lead to immediate disqualification of the test.

8. Security

The organization will place in certain points of the route and in the step controls, specialized personnel in charge of ensuring the safety of the participants. It is mandatory to follow the instructions of these personnel, who will be properly identified.

In case of abandonment, it is necessary to inform the staff of the organization as soon as possible, otherwise the organization will prohibit their participation in subsequent editions.

Medical staff and ambulances will be available at strategic points of the route to intervene in case of need.

In case the weather conditions advise it, there will be an alternative route that will be conveniently communicated in the breafing prior to the test. If the change to the alternative route was decided after the departure, it will be communicated to the participants at the appropriate control point.

There is also a rescue and evacuation plan if necessary. A broom team responsible for closing the race will check the passage of all participants.

Action protocol in case of accident:

  • In case of finding an injured or troubled runner, help should be provided immediately. Failure to do so entails immediate disqualification of the test.
    At first you have to make an initial assessment of the situation and / or injuries.
    In the case of suspecting that there may be a fractured bone, do not move the injured person and seek help.
    Search the telephone coverage or the control point of the organization closest to the injured person’s position.
    Notify the organization via telephone (the phone number is written in the number of the runners) and state the situation.
    If the problem is serious, call the emergency telephone directly 112.
    Use first aid techniques to properly treat the injured person or assist him as much as possible until the arrival of the aid and avoid leaving the injured person alone.

9. General information.

There will be clothing and showers facilities for after the test.

The organization is not responsible for accidents or damages that may be received or produced by the participants, although it will take care to avoid them.

The organization reserves the right to modify the Ultra Trail bases or suspend it, in case of eventuality or force majeure (extreme weather conditions) or to vary its route.

The participants will follow the instructions given by the organization.

When registering, all participants accept these regulations, career ethics and the attached regulations without reservation.

In case of cancellation of the test once started no amount will be refunded from the registration.

10. Time limits.

During the tour there will be a time limit to pass through the CP, these times are calculated to be able to finish at the maximum time established. It will not be allowed to follow those who overcome these time barriers. Those who want to continue will have their dorsal removed, and may continue out of the race and under their responsibility. In case of bad weather conditions or for safety reasons, the organization reserves the right to stop the race, modify the course or change the time limits.

11. Leaving and return to Alquezar.

The abandonments can only be made in the CP. All the abandonment points will have vehicles for the evacuation, although the evacuation time can be very long in some distant points.

In case of need of evacuation due to accident or injury that prevents the approach on foot to one of the points of return, you should try to notify the organization by all possible means contacting a person of control or security assistance to activate the rescue operation. Those who leave must notify the Organization by means of a control or by contacting the Organization Center through the telephone number that will be communicated to the participants. The organization will have return vehicles on arrival at the drop-off points. There will only be one trip, so the return will be made at the close of the control. There is telephone coverage at many points of the route.

12. Conditions of the participants.

For the Ultra Trail, Long Trail and Trail the minimum age to participate is 18 years old.

For the Ultra Trail, 4 iTra points are required and a medical certificate must be presented.

The participation of minors between 16 and 18 years with parental consent in writing.

To take the exit each runner must have adequate material to support the conditions of the test and the mandatory material requested by the organization.

13. Mandatory material.

Each participant must have, to guarantee their own safety, the following mandatory material.

The mandatory material of this regulation is indicative, it will be confirmed a few days-hours before the race depending on the weather.

There will be no material control before departure, but random material controls will be made at different points along the route.

Each runner must carry their own material, in the event that it is detected that a broker is carrying the mandatory material of another will be a reason for disqualification.

17. Registration.

Registration exclusively online on the web by strict order of registration.

Places limited to a maximum of 1500 participants between the 4 tests (375 Ultra, 375 Long, 375 Trail and 375 Alquézar Trail).

Registration opens on January 31, 2020 and will close on September 1 at 24 h. or exceeded the limit of places.

In 2020 the method of overbooking is chosen, so that when the places are filled there will be no waiting list and only people who have the cancellation insurance will be discharged.

If the limit of places is exceeded, a waiting list will be enabled in order to cover possible losses. Under no circumstances may numbers be assigned to another person, except on the Alquézar Trail until Sunday, September 22.

The registration amounts will be:

• Ultra trail: € 105
• Long Trail € 55
• Trail € 40
• Alquézar Trail € 20

The organization offers the brokers a cancellation insurance that allows the cost of registration to be recovered (see conditions). The insurance can only be contracted at the time of registration, once the registration is formalized, it will not be possible to purchase the cancellation insurance in any case. Cancellations can be requested from May 1 to August 31, 2019 at 23:59 h. To request the cancellation of the registration you have to write an email to the email with the information of the broker and requesting the return. The amount that will be returned will be the amount of the registration minus the bank management fees.

Accident insurance is compulsory for those who do not have accident coverage specific to mountain federation competition. The amount of accident insurance for the organization is € 15 for the Ultra Trail and € 10 for the Long Trail and Trail.

The Ultra-Trail runners must provide a medical certificate to participate in the race, this certificate must be uploaded to the platform as a deadline of September 1st. Model of Medical Certificate in this link The organization may cancel the registration of those runners who do not comply with the procedure of presenting said medical certificate, without this implying the refund of the registration fee.

Once enrolled in a distance, the runner will not be able to change course automatically, this must be reported to the organization that will study each case depending on the volume of entries for each race.

18. Responsibilities.

Participants, by filling in the registration form and accepting these regulations, acknowledge that they are in perfect physical condition for practicing sports and, in particular, to take the test in which they have registered. It is the responsibility of the runner himself to make the pertinent periodic medical examinations to make sure that he does not have any risk to compromise his health with his participation in the test. On them rests the decision to take the exit and realization of the race. The participants exempt the organization from the responsibility of suffering any physical problem that may occur during participation in any of the different modalities of the UTGS

19. Image rights.

The organization reserves the exclusive rights of the images, to take and collect photographs, video and information of the tests, in which all the participants are involved, as well as to use all this material for announcements, public relations or any other journalistic purpose or promotion of the event. Any media or advertising project must previously have the consent of the organization.

20. Data protection.

Under Lei 15/1999 of December 13 on the Protection of Personal Data, it becomes known to all participants to the UTGS that their personal data are incorporated into an automated file responsibility of the Guara Spirit Association, CIF G22385496 You may use it for promotional purposes related to the nature of the event to which the participant has registered. 21. Modifications.

The present regulation can be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the organization. The fact of making the registration shows the conformity of the participant with this regulation.
